This stamped brass wreath insignia is a veteran’s hat badge that designates the member as being from a G.A.R. Post # 37. Measures 2 ½” long x 1½” high and was meant to be worn on the veteran’s slouch hat. A thin, brass, parallel wire bar has two brass numbers “3” and “7” soldered on. Wire bar was soldered to the backside of the wreath at two points and one solder points has come loose. Not dented or bent. Brass retains most of the original gilt. [sm]
