Top hangar is a bar with crossed rifles and patriotic shield. Original pin is present on reverse. Suspended from this is a red, white and blue striped ribbon which attaches to a round medal that has an image of a soldier holding a musket, with the wording, “FIRST DEFENDERS / WASHINGTON / APR. 16, 1861”. Reverse of medal has design of connected rings with the wording, “NATIONAL LIGHT INFANTRY / LOGAN GUARDS / ALLEN INFANTRY / WASHINGTON ARTILLERISTS / RINGGOLD LIGHT ARTILLERY”.
Measures 3 ½” long. Ribbon has light surface dirt with no fraying. [sl]
