Wooden cigar box is commemorating the veteran reunion in San Francisco, CA, which took place on August 4-6, 1886. Outside of box is stamped in black, “TANSILL’S G.A.R. TWENTIETH NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT”. Inside of box lid is a colorful label that reads, “TWENTIETH NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT”. Surrounding this are images of Eureka, a version of the national seal, cannon balls with stacked muskets and a G.A.R. badge. Below this reads, ‘TANSILL’S G.A.R.” Sides are stamped, ‘CONCHAS / COLORADO MADURO”.
Underside of box is stamped, “FACTORY NO. 401 3RD DIST. N.Y. 50”. Green U.S. tax stamp label is present.
Box shows light surface dirt and wear. Inside of box has writing in pencil. Lid is still firmly attached. [ad]
