The top of the badge consists of a rectangular bar that reads “REPRESENTATIVE.” Suspended from it is a gold ribbon approx. 2.50 inches long.
The bar has a drop consisting of a spread-winged eagle within a laurel wreath. Superimposed over the eagle is the state seal of Iowa with another eagle and crossed cannons behind it. This is surmounted by a riband that reads “56TH NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT” and another at bottom that reads “DES MOINES, IOWA.”
Suspended from the ribbon is a brass disc with a profile bust of Lewis Stephen Pilcher, Commander-in-Chief. During the war he served in a unit of Hospital Stewards. Reverse of the disc reads “COMMANDER IN CHIEF GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC 1922.”
Ribbon has moderate surface dirt but is otherwise solid. [ad]
