This is a three piece medal and ribbon. The top piece is a spread winged eagle over two very nice enameled US flags. Below eagle and at center of the flags is disc with what appears to be the coat of arms of the state. Above this is a scroll that reads “DETROIT MICHIGAN.” The back of this top piece has a pin attached to it. Suspended from this top piece is a red ribbon that runs behind all three pieces of the main medal. The second piece of the medal is suspended from the top piece by 2 sets of three chain links. This rectangle is inscribed “DELEGATE 30TH STATE ENCAMPMENT DEPARTMENT OF MICHIGAN G.A.R.” The last piece is a large disc with an old veterans bust on it. He is undoubtedly the Department Commander but his name is not on the medal. Makers label is on the back of the ribbon.
