Top bar is stamped brass with pin on back. Celluloid center has GAR membership badge at center and “GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC.” Suspended from this top bar are two ribbons. First is a short white ribbon with crossed US flags made out of cloth and a celluloid button with a camp scene at bottom. The main, longer ribbon is black with silver letter that reads “BAILEY POST No. 67, NORTH TROY, VT.” Bottom has gold bullion fringe. Comes with a typed card that reads “MAR. 7. 1893.”
There were two men named Bailey from Troy, Vermont who died during the war. One was 2nd Lt. Charles F. Bailey of Co. D, 6th Vermont who died of wounds received at Lee’s Mill, Va. on April 16, 1862 and the other was Private George W. Bailey of Co. C, 8th Vermont who died of disease in New Orleans, La. on July 22, 1862. The Post could have been named after one or both of these men.
