The first item in this little group is a white ribbon with black printing. The ribbon meas. approx. 5.50 inches long x 1.75 inches wide. Attached at top is a tamped brass ribbon made to look like a bow. This has a pin on the back. Lettering reads “N. H. VETERANS’ ASSOCIATION-THE WEIRS SEPT. 3-6, 1895.” At center is a bust view of a Colonel with “CAMP ALEXANDER GARDNIER” below it. Ribbon has light surface dirt but is in good condition.

The second item is a card in the shape of a kepi with “N.H.V. A.” in gold lettering on the disc. Reverse of the card is blank.

Alexander Gardiner was Colonel of the 14th New Hampshire. He was wounded September 19, 1864 at Opequan, Virginia and died of his wounds on October 8th. He was promoted to Brigadier General by Brevet for his service with his rank to date from the day of his wounding.
