Original German elite unit sleeve insignia worn by members of Waffen SS 1st Panzer Division “Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler” during World War II. The most famous – or infamous – German Waffen SS panzer unit of World War II, the division was conspicuous for its performance in numerous battles in Russia (including Kharkov and Kursk), Normandy, and during the Battle of the Bulge. The hand-embroidered silver wire bullion denotes an officer’s cufftitle. It has been removed from a uniform. Though shortened by the GI who took it as a souvenir, the cufftitle is in excellent condition.
