Original German elite unit sleeve insignia worn by members of Panzergrenadier Division “Grossdeutschland” during World War II. The most famous German army panzer unit of World War II, the division was conspicuous for its performance in France at Sedan (as a regiment) and subsequently in numerous battles in Russia, including Kharkov and Kursk. This is the third style “Grossdeutschland” cufftitle in Sütterlin script introduced on 7 October 1940; initially crafted with “Grossdeutschland” hand-embroidered in aluminum wire thread, machine embroidered cotton thread was introduced in 1944 as a cost saving measure. This cufftitle is the 1944 version and it is in excellent condition.
