WORLD WAR ONE IMPERIAL GERMAN FLAG

$750.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 788-20

This cotton flag meas. approx. 58.25 inches on the hoist x 94.00 inches on the fly. The flag’s device consists of a white field with a thick black Scandinavian cross running horizontally. The cross is outlined with a thick black line as prescribed in September of 1903. The center of the cross has a black and gold spread-winged Prussian eagle with a red and gold crown holding a scepter and orb in its talons. The upper left quadrant of the cross has the German National colors in alternating bars of black, white and red with a black Maltese cross superimposed over it. The hoist edge has canvas sleeve for attaching to a pole.

The white of the flag has become discolored and dirty with age but the other colors are still strong. There are 3 or 4 areas of moderate wear to the material and a number of smaller stress points but nothing that detracts.
