Shallow, white glazed bowl is marked on the bottom with, “BAUSCHER WEIDEN 1937” and the German national eagle symbol. Bowl is also stamped with the numbers, “2171 28”.
The city of Weiden in the area of Germany known as the Oberpfalz has long been known as a center for the manufacture of fine porcelains and kitchen-table china. Most of the dinnerware from the tables of WWII military groups was produced by Bauscher Weiden. You have probably seen their mark on many pieces of white stoneware of the military, political organizations and paramilitary. The Weiden mark is an oval with Bauscher Weiden around its inner dimension. In the middle are the letters, “BW”.
Bowl measures 9 ¼” across. Item is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. [AD]
