This German medal is the War Merit Cross with Swords 2nd Class. The ribbon on this example is incorrect; the ribbon is for an Iron Cross, 2nd Class. The correct ribbon for the War Merit Cross has a black center, not red.
Both the medal and the ribbon, though mismatched, are in fantastic condition. Brass has naturally darkened with age. The reverse has the year, “1939”. Red, white and black ribbon is clean with no fraying.
Medal measures 2” in diameter. Ribbon measures 2 ½” long. . [SM]
