WORLD WAR TWO GERMAN GENERAL’S UNIFORM

$2,700.00

Quantity Available: 1

Item Code: 873-20

This is a WW2 German Major General tunic that was purchased from auction 224, Manion’s Auction House in September, 2001.  The tunic is un-named.

The original general insignias/ buttons were attached to a stripped original tunic by some collector for display after WW2 based on the amateur sewing job of these items to the tunic.  Still with that being said, all the components of this tunic are original and highly desirable pre-1945 (tunic, shoulder boards, collar tab, buttons, and breast eagle.)

The Officer Service Tunic is a standard dress service wool uniform with satin lining.   The tailor’s tag is missing and no name of the original owner is present.  It is for a small adult with thin neck.  It has loops on both the left and right side for the ribbon bar and various medals.  It has the Russian Front and EK2 ribbon sewed below the 2nd button hole.  There are two small cut like holes between the shoulder blades in the back and some scattered small moth holes.  The lining has the standard wear and some discoloration indicating this tunic saw daily use.

The general collar tabs are a textbook example for the 3rd Reich period.  They are a beautiful two tone bullion and gold wire matching general collar tabs.  The bullion has the appropriate patina and show minor wear which is an excellent sign these tabs saw action.

The matching right and left shoulder boards are the bright bullion example with silver cord and non-visible red underlay indicative of the early pre WW2 style.  Again it shows the desired patina and wear.

Together the collar tabs and shoulder boards are hard to find and are an original matching pair which is highly sought after in the WW2 German Militaria collecting world.

All buttons are original matching WW2 period type “Extra Fine” gold pebbled General Officer buttons.

The breast eagle is a well-made original embroidered gold wire thread.  It appears to be a Kriegsmarine Coastal Artillery officer’s breast eagle which looks very similar to the German Army General’s breast eagle.  The cloth around the eagle has some moth holes.

This tunic also comes with the original Manion’s Auction House certificate of guarantee and the original auction catalog.  The WW1 Austrian ribbon shown on the certificate does not come with this sale.  WW2 un-named German General Tunics of this type easily sell for above $5,000.  The price on this set is based on the value for the combinations of the individual pieces.  This set will be a nice addition to any WW2 German Militaria collection.  [ad]
