Red cardboard bound book with a gold embossed swastika inside of a cog on the front cover. Book meas. approx. 4.25 x 6.00 inches and runs 16 pages.

This booklet tells us that its owner was Joseph Kuta who was born on February 10, 1892. He joined “Die Deutsche Arbeitsfront” or German Workers Front (aka. D. A. F for short) in 1938. This particular booklet shows that he paid dues from 1940 through September of 1944. From the booklet it appears that Kuta was working as an apothecary in the Sarr region of Germany near the border with France.

The first page of the booklet bears the D. A. F. stamp along with Kuta’s full name and birthdate filled in with ink. This same page also bears a post-war stamping for 1949. The reason for this stamp is to show that Kuta was a wartime member. The booklet also shows that he was the father of 2 children and that he had been paying dues in previous years.

Tipped inside the front cover is a booklet entitled “Rules to be observed by a DAF member when changing positions or flats.”

Book is in overall good condition with light wear to cover edges. The back cover of the book bears Kuta’s signature.

The Workers Front was originally founded in 1933 and became an official Nazi organization in 1934. Its stated purpose was to educate all workers in industry and commerce for smooth and efficient operation of all Third Reich labor. The organizations goal was to provide political stability for a massive work force.    [ad]
