$275.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 727-388

This helmet has a cork body covered with a multi-piece cover made of khaki cloth and edged with a grey-green leather. The top of the helmet has a knob covered in the same cloth as the body. This knob has three holes for ventilation and can be unscrewed. Around the center of the body is 1.00 inch wide band. The left side of the helmet has a stamped alloy shield with an eagle with down swept wings. The eagle is done in high relief, embossed with a silver wash on a black field. The right side of the helmet has a shield made of the same material as the one on the left side but this one is divided into three sections with the colors of black, white and red. The helmet also has its thin leather chinstrap with an adjuster buckle.

The interior has a red cloth liner in the top with a brass ventilator in the crown. The leather sweatband is a cream color and is approx. 1.75 inches high and is stamped with a size number of “57” in a circle. The underside of the sweatband is marked “B. K. 41.”

Still attached to the outside of the helmet is a pair of general purpose goggles with good lenses.

The overall condition of the helmet is good but the exterior is dirty and dusty and needs a good cleaning. The top of the helmet is slightly pushed but a few weeks on a head form or stuffed with paper may return its shape. The gray-green leather edging shows moderate wear as does the chinstrap.
