MODEL 1940 SINGLE DECAL LUFTWAFFE HELMET

$595.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 817-03

Nice condition field-gray World War Two German Luftwaffe helmet with a single decal on the left side.

The rolled edge helmet body retains 95% of the original field-gray paint with only some minor scratches. The finish is smooth to the touch. All three liner rivets are present and exhibit paint loss. The vent-holes on each side of the helmet are cast as part of the body. The left side has the spread-winged eagle and swastika decal. This decal is 95% intact with only a small amount of the tail missing and some light surface scratches.

The interior of the helmet has a light brown leather liner with eight tongues. The drawstring which usually runs through these tongues to gather them at the center of the crown is missing. The liner is worn along the bottom edge and the tips of all the tongues have curled. There is no chinstrap but the anchors are there.  The helmet is marked on the inside left edge with the maker and size “ET64.” This stamp shows that the helmet was made by the Eisenhuttenwerk, Thale and is a size 64 centimeters. The inside back edge is stamped with the lot number “1435.”  There is no marking in the crown.

This is a nice example of the standard World War Two German helmet.
