These relics were recovered from a crash site of a German ME 109 aircraft. The location of the wreck is not known.
Item is part of the left side of the Pilots seat with a section of seatbelt still attached. Seat section meas. approx. 14.00 inches long x 7.00 inches wide. It is bent on the edges with one split which are obviously from the force of the crash when the plane went down.
The belt is a heavy woven material approx. 2.00 inches wide and approx. 20.00 inches long. The belt still has the leather cushion. Belt has the iron hook for fastening at one end and is attached to the seat by passing through a keeper.
With the item is a page copied from a book showing the interior of an ME 109 cockpit with the pieces offered here circled to show where they were in the plane.
Very interesting relic from one of the mainline World War Two German fighter aircraft. [ad]
