Standard issue American made US Model 1917 helmet with OD painted exterior and very light sand finish. Exterior shows light wear from age use and storage. There are no dents or rust spots however there are some minor chips toward the back.
Painted on the front is a red and black 27th Infantry Division insignia which is 95% intact.
Interior of helmet is complete with a good oilcloth liner and leather chinstrap. Small dot of white paint with collection number found near chinstrap keeper.
The 27th Infantry Division was made up of National Guard units from the state of New York. The division along with the 30th Infantry Division served with the British Army and saw action in the Somme, Ypres-Lys and Meuse-Argonne offensives.
This helmet is from the collection of the late Bob Jones of McSherrystown, Pa. Bob was a World War Two Navy veteran who collected World War One items from his youth. [ad]

This sword was probably sold by Schuyler, Hartley & Graham of New York. The pattern is pictured in their 1864 catalogue in figures 13 and 16. Rather than have a standard blade, the lightly curved 32 inch blade has "B.K." (Battery K) on the left… (870-447). Learn More »
