Item Code: 150-249

British made US Model 1917 helmet with OD painted body and light sand finish. Exterior shows very heavy wear and chipping to paint with some scattered paint loss. Helmet has no dents or rust spots.

Painted on the front and back of the helmet is a red circle with a black hourglass at center. This is the insignia of the 7th US Infantry Division. Insignia is 85% intact on one end and 90% on the other.

Interior of helmet has the liner and a broken but complete chinstrap. Small dot of white paint with collection number marked on the rim edge. Both chinstrap keepers are present and attached to the helmet with split rivets.

The 7th Division was made up of Regular Army units and though the division arrived in France in the late summer of 1918 it saw no action as a division. However, its infantry and reconnaissance units did see limited action.   [ad]
