WORLD WAR TWO GERMAN SEAT-PACK PARACHUTE COVER

$75.00 SOLD
Originally $90.00

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 873-14

This item is the parachute cover only from the World War Two German Model 30 IS24 seat type parachute. There are no shoulder or leg straps, back pad, waist belt or parachute. This type chute was used mostly by fighter pilots.

The item is made of a green canvas material with a khaki boarder. Folded the item meas. approx. 18.00 x 16.00 inches. The inside of the pack base has two strips of white cloth sewn at top and bottom each containing six loops. When folded down in the closed position the top flap has two metal posts on its edge. These posts correspond to grommet holes on the lower flap. This lower flap is closed by folding it so that the grommet holes go over the posts. Each side piece also has a hole and grommet. When folded inward the grommets on each side piece go over the metal posts on top of the upper and lower flaps and are held in place by pins that pass through the posts. Only one pin is present. Once this is done the lower flap has a smaller flap attached to the outside with three lift-dot fasteners that hold the whole thing in place. One of the lift-dot fasteners is loose while the other two work but are stiff.

Attached to the bottom flap is a cloth tab that reads in German GERAT-NR; ANFORDERZ; WERK’- NR. and FL. Which as near as we can tell in English is DEVICE NUMBER; REQUIREMENTS; WORK NUMBER.

This item is in good overall condition with light surface dirt.

With the item is a print out from a book showing German pilots wearing these parachutes and pictures of a complete chute.   [ad]
