Helmet retains 90% of the original paint both inside and out. Exterior has some minor scuffs and dings otherwise is good. OD green chinstrap is sewn to both bales. Fasteners are darkened brass claw and arrow point. Each strap has a snap for connecting to the liner. Chinstrap shows light surface wear.

Helmet liner was made by Westinghouse and is so marked on the inside crown. Exterior OD green paint is 95% with only minor scuffing. Back edge of liner has small rubbed spot. Liner fits well in the helmet shell. Chinstrap snaps fit nicely. Leather liner chinstrap is in good condition and rests on visor of helmet.

Interior of the liner has proper sweatband and non-adjustable neckband. Helmet also has woven “A” yokes with buckle at each end that accepts a similar made chinstrap with gap for chin and four adjustment holes with grommets.

With the helmet is a Xerox copy of a 1945 mailing label with a return address for “LT. Max BROWN, 01328112, 6939 APU- APO 176, C/O P.M., N.Y. C.”

A very nice example of a World War Two paratrooper helmet.    [ad]
