Tourniquet is made of braided rope with a wooden handle on the end. Handle is marked, “GUYOT BROS. CO. INC. / ATTLEBORO MASS”. Item has remains of original brown paper wrapping.

This would have been carried in a medic’s pouch. This type is the Spanish Windlass tourniquet. Tourniquets were primarily used to stop the severe discharge of blood from a ruptured blood vessel.  [sm]
