Handsome volume in beautiful red cloth hardcovers with the full title on the spine in gold ink and marbled page edges. Covers are new but the interior of the book is all original.

Title page reads “BIBLIOGRAPHY OF THE STATE PARTICIPATION IN THE CIVIL WAR 1861-1866” and “WAR DEPARTMENT LIBRARY, SUBJECT CATALOGUE NO.6 THIRD EDITION.”

Volume meas. approx. 6.50 x 9.50 inches and runs 1140 pages.

The book lists titles published up to 1913 for all the states in the Union. Each state listing includes titles relating to city and county participation in the war as well as the state in general. Each listing is subdivided by artillery, cavalry and infantry and lists regimental histories, pamphlets and papers published on each regiment.

After the individual state listings there are approx. 38 appendices covering books and articles published on the Colored Troops, GAR, Indian Troops, Irish Brigade, Ladies of the GAR, Sharpshooters, Sons of Veterans, Union Veterans League, United Confederate Veterans, United Sons of Confederate Veterans, Daughters of Confederate Veterans, US Sanitary Commission, Veterans Reserve Corps, Women’s Loyal National League and the Women’s Relief Corps just to name a few.
