By Albert Taylor Bledsoe, A.M., L.L.D., Late Professor of Mathematics in the University of Va. Published by The Hermitage Press, Inc., Richmond VA. 1907. Presentation stamp, inner front endpapers: “Presented by / Mrs. Virginius Reston /Confederate Reunion / Richmond, VA., 1907.” 263 pp. In brown glazed cloth, 5.375” x 8.75, w/ gilt cover lettering. Exhibits very slight cover wear. Else fine. The author essentially argues that the conflict between north and south was already explicit at the time of the 1787 Constitution and that James Madison was duplicitous in veiling it in his Federalist writings.  For Confederate buffs a companion piece to Alexander Stephen’s post-war defense of the Confederate right of succession.   [jp] [ph:L]
