This is an important American military study of the armies of the major powers in Europe, including Russia, Prussia, Austria, France, and Britain. The work covers all aspects of the military organizations of these countries, presumably with the intention of learning ways to improve the forces at home. This study would soon be needed, since, at time of publication, America was on the verge of civil war. [jet] [PH:L]
