This fourteen-page pamphlet was as supplement document distributed by the United States Sanitary Commission in 1863. The pamphlet summarizes conclusions made by the Sanitary Commission’s 4th Report dated December 15, 1862. Topics within the document include issues concerning nurse wellness, discharged soldiers’ pay, “through” tickets for the railroad, and soldier relief stations.
The pamphlet measures 8 ½” by 5 ½” and the binding is fragile due to age, papers are now loosely fitted. There is a distinct fold line down the middle of all pages. Handwritten notes are present on both the front and last page. On the back of the last page “SANITARY COMMISSION/ SUPPLEMENT TO 59.” is stamped in the upper right corner. [mk] [ph:L]
