The full title is “DISASTER, STRUGGLE, TRIUMPH. THE ADVENTURES OF 1000 “BOYS IN BLUE” FROM AUGUST 1862 TO JUNE 1865” by Mrs. Arabella M. Wilson and published under the supervision of the Historical Committee of the regiment in Albany, New York in 1870.

Volume is hardcover and bound in brown cloth with the title and a Second Corps badge in gold on the spine. Covers have very some edge wear and are mostly clean. Top and bottom of the spine are chipped. The book meas. approx. 5.50 x 9.00 inches and runs 593 pages.

Interior is clean with several woodcut illustrations. Binding is very good.

The 126th New York was organized in Geneva, New York on August 22, 1862. The regiment was captured at Harper’s Ferry during the Antietam Campaign and sent to a parole camp in Chicago until exchanged.

After their exchange the regiment became part of the 22nd Corps in the defenses of Washington, D. C. In June of 1863 they were sent to the Second Corps of the Army of the Potomac. At Gettysburg they helped repulse Pickett’s Charge and later saw action at Auburn Ford, Bristoe Station, Wilderness, Spotsylvania and the siege of Petersburg.

During its service the regiment lost 17 officers and 259 men killed, died of wounds and disease. [AD] [PH:L]
