The full title is “JOURNAL HISTORY OF THE TWENTY-NINTH OHIO VETERAN VOLUNTEERS 1861-1865 ITS VICTORIES AND ITS REVERSES AND CAMPAIGNS AND BATTLES OF WINCHESTER, PORT REPUBLIC, CEDAR MOUNTAIN, ATLANTA, THE MARCH TO THE SEA, AND THE CAMPAIGN IN THE CAROLINAS, IN WHICH IT BORE AN HONORABLE PART.” by J. Hamp Secheverell, late of Company B and published in Cleveland, Ohio in 1883.

Volume is hardcover and bound in brown cloth with a Mylar protective cover. The title is stamped in gold on the spine. Covers have very some edge wear and are mostly clean. Top and bottom of the spine show light rubbing. The book meas. approx. 5.00 x 7.25 inches and runs 284 pages with roster.

Interior is clean with minor yellowing to page edges. Binding is very good. Single wood cut of Colonel Buckley at front.

The second page has a period pencil inscription that reads “COMPLIMENTS OF O. H. REMMINGTON. L. S. ENRIGHT(?) MAY 25TH 83.

Oscar H. Remington served as a private in Company H, 29th Ohio Infantry from October 1861 to September 1863 when he was discharged for disability.

The 29th Ohio Infantry was organized at Camp Giddings in Jefferson, Ohio on August 1, 1861. The regiment served in both Pope’s Army of Virginia and in the Army of the Potomac.

The regiment was present at Winchester, Port Republic, Cedar Mountain, Antietam, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Dug Gap, Dallas, New Hope Church, Peach Tree Creek, Atlanta, Averysboro.

During its service the regiment lost 7 officers and 264 enlisted men killed, died of wounds and disease. [ad] [PH:L]
