Full title is “THE SIGEL REGIMENT: A HISTORY OF THE 26TH WISCONSIN VOLUNTEER INFANTRY, 1861-1865” by James S. Pula and published by Savas Publishing Company of Campbell, California in 1998.

Hardcover is nicely bound in teal cloth with the title and author on the spine in gold ink. Covers are excellent. Illustrated dustjacket is in excellent condition.

Volume meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 485 pages with roster and index. There are numerous black & white photographs and several maps.

Binding is excellent and the interior is super clean. A “like new” copy.

The 26th Wisconsin was organized at Camp Sigel in Milwaukee on September 17, 1862. They served with the 11th Corps of the Army of the Potomac and later the 20th Corps in the Department and Army of the Ohio and Cumberland.

The regiment was heavily engaged at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg and saw further action in the west during the Atlanta campaign at Buzzard’s Roost, Resaca, Dallas, Kennesaw Mountain, Peach Tree Creek, Averysboro and Bentonville.

During its service the regiment lost 12 officers and 253 enlisted men killed, died of wounds and disease.  [ad] [PH:L]
