This Note features a Steamship Adriatic at Sea on top with a portrait of man on lower left. It is a bilingual Note in English on the front and French on the back. Black and orange with Bank name in French and large “DIX” in middle. Widely circulated throughout the South and readily accepted due to the prominence of the Citizens Bank. English people called them “Dixies” and the story evolved that “Dixie” was named after the Bank Note. This Note is also crisp and un-circulated. [ws] [ph:L]
