“Guards will pass the bearer Wm. B. Carter Dis. Fr. Ba__ 2nd Class through the City until 1st day July/ 65…he being for that period exempt from duty in the enrolled Militia of this District. At the expiration of that time, if found within the limit of this District, he will be arrested and conducted, under guard, to these Head Quarters. By order of Brig. M. Williamson/ Mark Delowery, Assistant Adjutant General.

William B. Carter enlisted as a Private, date unknown. He also had service with “B” Co., 1st Kentucky Cavalry.  [jp]
