Song sheet shows a filigree design on the cover behind the title and a list of songs. It was published by Russell & Tolmann of Boston. Inside is the music and words to the song, "THE CHILD OF THE REGIMENT". Words are by Charles Jefferys and music by Donizetti. Description of song tells how a child was found alone in camp by the 21st Regiment of the Grand Army of Napoleon, who named her Maria, fostered and loved her. She was found later to be the daughter of the Marchinieness de Berkenfield, but still remained close to the unit. This song was sung by Catherine Hayes in the opera, "La Fille De Regiment". Song has two verses.
Pencil inscription at the top right reads, "W.F.S. SUMMER TIME 1862".
Measures 9.75" by 12.75". Three pages total. Pages have yellowed with age and show light spotting. Light wrinkles are present. No tears or chips. [sl]
