Preprinted document filled out in period ink. Meas. approx. 10.00 x 8.00 inches.

Document transfers 374 grain sacks in good condition from the quartermaster of the 2nd Corps Artillery to Battery G, 1st New York Light Artillery in the field on November 30, 1863.

The document is signed by Captain Moncena Dunn as acting assistant quartermaster. Dun had an interesting war history. He was commissioned a 1st lieutenant in Company D, 19th Massachusetts Infantry in August of 1861. During his service he rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was wounded twice, first at Fredericksburg and then at Cold Harbor. He was captured at Petersburg on June 22, 1864 and confined in prisons at Macon, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina. He was paroled and exchanged in December of 1864 and was finally mustered out on July 19, 1865.

Battery G, 1st New York Light Artillery served with the Army of the Potomac from the Peninsula to Appomattox.   [ad] [ph:L]
