Dated “October 1863.”  Framed in brown wood, 15.25” x 19.5, w/ brown paper backing and hang-wire. The black and white broadside measures 8.25” x 12.5 and his double matted in light and dark brown against beige backing. Frame and matting are pristine, while the broadside exhibits fold-marks, else fine.

This piece is an advertising broadside for war-claims agent T.H. Dinsmore of Skowhegan, Maine.

Text: “Duly Authorized WAR CLAIM AGENCY procuring PAY, BOUNTY, 7 PENSIONS for Officers and soldier, and the Relatives of such as are deceased.” Followed by five paragraphs under the following headings: Discharged Soldiers, Arrears of Pay, The bounty of $100, Pensions, and proof.

Agent Dinsmore goes on to say that…”To accommodate those who cannot conveniently see me I have carefully prepared lists of questions, applicable to every form of claims…My facilities for a successful prosecution of claims are unsurpassed.”
