4 page newspaper measuring 9 1/2" x 12", published at the headquarters of the Department of Washington hospitals at Alexandria, VA. This paper was produced every Saturday between October 8, 1864 through April 29, 1865. Subscriptions were $1 per year. The number of furloughed, discharged, deserted and deceased were dutifully listed in each paper’s issue.
This issue includes a poem entitled, “The Soldier Boy” by Oliver Olanger; a selection of “Camp Stories”; etc.
Paper has yellowed with age; the 2 pages have separated completely along their vertical fold. An old tape repair is visible on the 1st page. [ld] [ph:L]
