Contains first notice of South Carolina secession—December 24, 1860. Front page Includes South Carolina declaration of independence, issued by Governor F. W. Pickens. (Copied from the Charleston Courier). Also “Governor Floyd’s Resignation” as President Buchanan’s Secretary of War—as well as “Lincoln’s Abolitionism”—“Scene In U.S. Senate”—and “Designs of Black Republicanism.”

Exhibits fold-marks and worn spot chipping at fold corns. Slightly fragile, but completely intact.
