Reverse envelope flap—” Suite 1527-30 / 30 East 42nd Street / New York City.” One page typed, 6.5” x 7.5 w/one spelling correction & a full “Theodore Roosevelt” signature. Exhibits fold-mark and a very slight touch of foxing along bottom margin. Else VG.
Text: “Dear Ben…As soon as I got your letter, I sent it on to John Greenway to take up the matter. Will you let me know if every thing is satisfactory. You are one of the men I shall always stand by as a matter of course / Faithfully your old colonel, Theodore Roosevelt.
Ben R. Daniels [1852-1923] was an Arizona pioneer, and a lawman in tough westerns towns, and Sheriff of Pima Country, who served in in Roosevelt’s “Rough Riders” in Cuba, and had also been Superintendent of Yuma Territorial Prison.
A fine Theodore Roosevelt collectible w/ western flavor. Invites further research. [jp]
