Post-war bond—OREGON AND TRANSCONTINENTAL COMPANY. Dated 15 May 1898, certifying 100 shares to Charles H.T. Collis. Signed by “Charles H.T. Collis” on the reverse—dated “May16, 1889.”2 pp., trimmed in green, 10.5 x 7. Exhibits fold-mark and three punched holes. Else VG.
C.H.T. Collis was age 23 when commissioned as Captain into Co. “D”, Zouaves D’ Afrique, 8/17/1861, later discharged for promotion as Colonel of the 114th Pennsylvania Volunteers, later receiving brevet promotions to Brigadier General, 10/28/1864, and Major General, 5/29/1865. He was also awarded the Medal of Honor for gallantry in action, leading a daring bayonet charge at Fredericksburg, VA, 12-13 December, 1862.
