This bayonet and scabbard is in overall good condition.

Blade is bright with minor amounts of mottling. The blade meas. approx. 17.00 inches long with a single fuller that starts just above the ricasso and runs approx. 12.75 inches. The edge is in good condition with no visible nicks. The ricasso is marked on one side with “1917” over “W” in a circle. The opposite side has a partial eagle head next to a bursting bomb over a “U.S.” To the right of the bursting bomb is an “X.”

The elliptical iron guard has a worn blue finish with an “O” ring for fitting over the rifle’s muzzle.

The wooden grip is the usual with two screws and two horizontal notches and is in good condition. Locking mechanism also works well.

The scabbard is made of leather and is a dark green color. It exhibits some light wear but is in otherwise excellent condition. The pronounced seam running down the back is perfect. There is a darkened iron tip and throat. Attached to the back of the throat are hooks for attaching to a Mills web belt. The scabbard is marked “JEWELL 1918” along the rear seam.  [ad] [ph:L]
