This is the Krag – Jorgensen bayonet used on the model 1892 Krag rifle.

From point to pommel the drawn bayonet meas. approx. 16.00 inches long. The blade meas. approx. 11.50 inches with a central fuller that is approx. 8.00 inches long. The blade is bright with very minor mottling that is hardly worth mentioning. Ricasso is marked “US” on one side and “1897” on the other. True edge is free of any nicks.

The hilt has a bird head iron pommel and a flat iron guard with “o” ring. The wood grips are in good condition with only minor wear. Mortise and button attachment work well. Hilt is in overall nice condition.

The steel scabbard is the Type 2 introduced in 1895. The scabbard surface is free of dents and retains much of its blued finish. Scabbard has a ball shaped finial.

A very nice example.  [ad] [ph:m]
