Sword measures approximately 34 ½” overall with a 28” blade. Blade is mostly bright with a few scattered patches of darker spotting and light surface rust. Obverse ricasso is marked “US / 1863 / F.S.S.” while the reverse ricasso has circular “C. ROBY / W. CHEMLSFORD / MS.”
Hilt is made of brass with a ribbed grip. Single knuckle bow with counterguard ending in a quillon. Slight bend to quillion. Mellow patina on all brass. Knuckle bow has “F.S.S.” inspector’s initials. Grip and guard remain tight. Small remnant of leather washer. Small dings and nicks overall.
No scabbard.
