In cleaning a rifle musket barrel there was often debris caked in the breech and rifling. This is a simple double-helix screw that would fit on the threaded end of the soldier’s ramrod and enable him to scour out the bore and remove caked or damp powder, remnants of cartridge paper, etc.
These would be carried in the implement pouch on the front of the infantry cartridge box and would display nicely with a set of infantry gear and a regulation .58 caliber rifle musket. Exc. condition. [sr] [ph:m]
