This is a copper and brass powder flask in very nice condition. Measures approximately 10” tall x 4” at widest point.
Both sides are adorned with a spread-winged eagle above a circle of stars that contain two hands shaking at the center of a sunburst. At bottom is a US shield at the center of panoply of flags, guns, and swords.
The top of the flask has the brass cap and spout. The top of the cap is marked “BATTY / 1851.” Thumb tab and spring work well. Both sling loops are present on the sides.
The original leather sling remains attached to the flask. The sling is approximately 4’ long overall and a half-inch wide. One end of the sling is riveted through a flask loop while the other end is attached to a spring clip that is attached to the other loop. A small iron roller buckle allows for adjusting the length of the sling. Leather sling remains in very good condition with only slight surface cracks appearing across the small adjustment holes.
The copper body of the flask is in excellent condition with only small dent at the bottom on one side. The flask has a very pleasing overall patina. [jet] [ph:L]
