.36 caliber “Deringer”-style percussion pistol, with wooden ramrod and checkered grips. Company marking — “Spang & Wallace”—on scroll and leaf engraved lockplate, with “Phila” stamped atop octagonal 4.5” barrel. Walnut grips, with German silver furniture.
Metallic parts exhibit smooth, consistent, medium gray patina; stock and grips display minor dings and scratching. Tight bolster and nipple, with crisp cocking action. Bore somewhat dusty with slight pitting. Else VG plus and extremely handsome. Superb 1850s-60s “Deringer”. Fine desk display piece. [jp]
