MODEL 1849 POCKET COLT WITH MISMATCHED NUMBERS

This pocket Colt is serial numbered 178952 and matches throughout except for the cylinder which is number 179052 and the wedge which is unmarked. Both serial numbers bear an 1860 production date. The weapon has been heavily cleaned.

The octagonal barrel meas. approx. 6.00 inches long with a good readable stamping in two lines “ADDRESS SAML. COLT HARTFORD CT.” Front bead sight is present.  Bore is .31 and is dirty with light surface rust at muzzle and breech and some pitting near center.

The 5-shot cylinder has all of the original nipples which show light wear and 80% of the cylinder scene is present. Cylinder also has a few spots of pitting. Action is sloppy. Cylinder is tight at full-cock. Frame has light mottling and a good “COLT’S PATENT” stamping in two lines on the left side. Frame screws show light wear. Loading lever works properly. Wedge pin is a good fit but as stated above it is unmarked.

Trigger guard and grip frames show some silver finish. Perhaps 10%. Wood grips are in good condition.  [ad] [ph:L]
