UNTOUCHED 1796 BRITISH REGULATION CAVALRY PISTOL

$925.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 88-91

This is an untouched 1796 British Regulation Cavalry pistol designed for light cavalry. It is the weapon that fought the Napoleonic War and was here with the 14th Light Dragoons at New Orleans and the 19th Light Dragoons at Niagara in the War of 1812. The barrel is marked with ordnance proof marks on the left side. The lock is engraved with a crown over "GR" in front of the cock along with a crowned broad arrow below the pan. Engraved behind the cock is "TOWER". Original captive ramrod is intact. The lock plate measures 5.25" long, the barrel measures 9" long with a bore diameter of 0.66", and the pistol overall measures 15.5". Brass mounted while the iron hardware has a pleasing patina with little or no pitting. Some wood loss from period use but the age patina is wonderful. Original flint configuration.  [PE] [ph:L]
