REMINGTON 1861 NAVY REVOLVER

$1,250.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1179-108

This is an example of the Model 1861 Remington Navy Revolver. This overlapped and followed the Remington-Beals production and was manufactured in 1862.

This is a percussion, six-shot, .36 caliber revolver with a 7.25” octagonal barrel. Tin plated overall. The maker’s stamp, “PATENTED DEC. 17, 1861 / MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS, ILION N.Y”, remains visible on the top flat of the barrel.  This pistol is serial numbered 21042. That number appears under the barrel and on the cylinder.

Mechanics are strong. Cylinder features safety notches between cones. All the percussion nipples are present and in good order. Tim plate shows some minor wear and scattered small patches that are worn off. Brass trigger guard remains 98% plated.

Walnut grips are original and in good condition with a nice “USN” and “GG” (inspector) stamps on the butt.

This is an interesting example of a Civil War-era Navy revolver.   [jet] [ph:L]
