HALL RIFLE SOCKET BAYONET

$350.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 172-5697

The first mass produced breechloading flintlock rifle, the Hall rifle, was most notable for its interchangeable parts. In addition to easing the task of loading via the breech, the arm was also the first of its kind to be regulated by the army. The accompanying socket bayonet was typically unmarked (if marked it was very rare), it contained a 3” socket, 16” blade, and an overall measurement of 19”.

This bayonet has the standard measurements for the Hall bayonet.  It is bright with some surface oxidation. The underside of the socket has a dark brown patina. Standard for this type of accoutrement was a prow point or tapered with a sharp point; this bayonet exhibits a prow point.  There are no markings on the face flute.

This is fine piece for anyone who collects the infamous Hall rifle and its accoutrements.  [mk] [ph:L]
