SABER BAYONET FOR ALTERED MODEL 1841 RIFLE

This is very similar to the Remington Zouave bayonet. These were produced for the Model 1841 rifles being altered and re-rifled in .58 caliber.

The blade is approximately 20” long and marked “1861” and “COLLINS & CO / HARTFORD / CONN” on the ricasso. Fuller is nearly 14” long. Blade is clean with a mottled surface. The hilt is cast brass. The patina is a nice untouched dark yellow. Marked in the flat of the handle is “17”. The cross guard, ribbed grip, and locking spring in the handle are all in good condition.  [jet] [ph:L]
