This Model 1863, .58 caliber, percussion rifle-musket, dated 1864, is complete and in very fine condition. It was produced at the Alfred Jenks & Co facility in Bridesburg, PA. The musket retains its original stock, iron nipple, ramrod, screwed barrel bands with matching U stampings, and sling swivels.  Barrel, lock plate, hammer, butt plate, bands, trigger guard, rear sight, and ramrod all share the same clean finish. Lock plate is stamped “U. S. / BRIDESBURG” in front of the hammer and strongly stamped “1864” behind hammer. A sharp and detailed spread winged eagle motif is stamped on lock plate between hammer and bolster. Barrel date stamp “1864” on the breech top flat. Government proof marks “V / P / eagle head” on left facet of the breech.

Steel butt plate is strongly stamped with deep clear “U S”. Musket has the original two-leaf rear sight and small blade front sight. All screw slots are in excellent condition. Barrel bore is bright with minty rifling.  Mechanics are crisp.

Black walnut full stock is in suburb condition overall. It has clean edge contours around the lock and on the flat opposite the hammer. Stock exhibits wonderful attractive patina with a IN stamp on the flat. There are no cracks or blemishes in the wood. Retains its steel, tulip-head ramrod with a threaded tip, all in excellent condition.
